The handle allows you to handle easier and also hang from the ceiling to prevent from fouling. The handle on the inside piece allows you to hold easily while filling. Will freeze without breaking but allow to thaw. P.M. Drinker 1 1/5 Gallon

    I have several of these drinkers now. I have tried several other drinker styles, but this one is my favorite. The handle on top is big enough to be useful (instead of a tiny ring for one finger to slip through). The bottom of the drinker also has internal handles for easy carrying when filled but not yet connected to the trough piece.

    Long lasting, birds can drink on all sides, curved handle will not break off, plenty of water for hot days, easy to clean, a little hard to flip over, but doable.
