Moxidectin Gel was brought to our attention by a breeder who has been using it for over 10 years, and highly recommends it. It is a product that is different than most other products in the way it is prepared. This Moxidectin must be mixed in a blender for 30 seconds. Add to the drinking water for 1 day, and then repeated in 9 days. Not only does it eliminate the most common roundworms, it also eliminates the Gapeworm, Air Sac mites, other mites and most internal parasites. Lice, which live off feathers, so you would think that Moxidectin would have no effect, but experience shows that most lice will also be disposed of. The breeder who suggested we add Moxidectin to our product line, sent along three pages of testimonials! The product is similar to a large syringe that has notches on it. Add four notches to a cup of warm water and put this in your blender. Blend for 30 seconds add this mixture to a gallon of drinking water. Give for one days and then repeat the process after 9 days. It is very Important, as with all roundworm treatments, to clean the loft after treatment. The Moxidectin does not kill round worms, as with all round worm treatment, it paralyzes them and they are expelled thru the droppings. If you do not clean the loft, especially the floor and perches, the pigeons could become reinfected by eating worms on the floor and perch. If your pigeons are exposed to the outsides and go to ground, they sometimes pick up roundworms. If worms are an ongoing problem, this exposure to the ground may be your problem and you should consider treating every month or at least twice a year, as the lifespan of the round worm is six months. Moxidetin remains in a birds system for up to 30 days. (See label for dosage for animals other than pigeons.)
