In November 2008 I received a call from Jake Van Dyke of Florance, Alabama. He told me that after the American Pigeon Journal went out of business, a relative of Frank Hollmann, who was a relative and member of the Tennessee Pigeon and Dove Club, acquired the remaining copies of an book called Courageous Couriers. The relative distributed copies to all the club members and then Jake acquired the remaining books. These books have been in storage for many years and in November 2008, Foy`s purchased the remaining books and, while they last, we offer these antique, World War II books to you our customer. This edition was published by Frank Hollmann of The American Pigeon Journal in May 1977. These Memoirs of a Pigeon Soldier and the chronology of events commence with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. It was a well kept secret, but an american infentary division landed in Northern Ireland in Januatry 1912, and by mid 1912 the United States was deploying military pigeon communications detachments to overseas destinations. Chapter 1 covers pigeons and Pearl Harbor. Chapter II covers the pigeon as Messengers Since Dawn of Civilization. Many black and white photos are in this 136 page, soft covered book, including many well known and some lesser known pigeon heroes. Army lofts, equipment, personel, methods and training information is in this interesting book. Were you aware that you can train racing homer to fl y two ways, back and forth to two different lofts? This book tells you how to do it. There is just so much fascinating information. You`ll be better informed about your pigeons and you`ll also learn much abouthow the Pigeon Corps operated. This is a real collectors book. Courageous Couriers
